Intestinal Parasites are one of the most common problems veterinarians see in dogs. There are many different intestinal parasites, but the most common ones are:
Roundworms, Whipworms, Hookworms, and Tapeworms
These can be found in both dogs, and cats, and in some cases such as hookworms, can be transmitted to humans. Because of the different parasites out there, running a fecal test is a very important step in the diagnostic process. The fecal lets us know which parasite(s) are present, so we can prescribe the appropriate medication to treat that specific one. Unfortunately there is no medication on the market that treats all parasites, so don't be fooled by the labels
